The Barbenheimer meme began its journey on July 21, 2023, when Warner Bros.’ Barbie was released simultaneously. and Universal’s Oppenheimer.
The unlikely duo sparked a wave of memes by combining the two main characters into a comedy hybrid. The widespread popularity of the meme eventually led to a contract for a new film, which is currently in pre-production. Features of the full moonknown for the films “Trancers” and “Puppet Master,” reports Gizmodo.
This meme was a boon for both “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer.” Barbie became the highest-grossing film of the year and set a new record for Warner Bros., and Oppenheimer is on track to reach the $1 billion mark. Both films are considered contenders for the upcoming awards season.
The upcoming Barbenheimer movie is advertised as: “Deep in Dollsville, a team of disgruntled dolls led by the genius Dr. Barbenheimer creates an atomic bomb. Their goal? Destroy the patriarchy once and for all! But as the gender war intensifies, will Barbenheimer and his band of incredibly handsome men cause more destruction than they planned?
The film will begin production in October, with a Christmas release expected on the Full Moon streaming service along with Prime Video.
