In July 2021, the children of former president Álvaro Uribe, Tomás and Jerónimo, became the news after they managed, from their project, ‘La Haus’, to make investors believe in their project. With that goal in mind, they managed to raise $ 100 million through a series B financing round (equity and debt). Maluma and Jeff Bezos were part of the list of entrepreneurs who decided to be part of it. Also outstanding are Gabriel Gilinski, son of billionaire banker Jaime Gilinski, and Simón Borrero, co-founder of Rappi.
The Haus, according to what it describes from the organization, works as a virtual real estate. The business, which according to its creators has about 650 million potential clients, wants to continue with the development of the sale of homes in Latin America. The company was born in February 2018, in the state of Delaware, in the United States. The Haus operates in six Colombian cities (Bogotá, Medellín, Santa Marta, Cartagena, Barranquilla and Cali and three Mexican (Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey).
“Each collaborator is a unique, special and different person. We decided to participate this year because for us, people are the strategy. It is they who help us meet organizational objectives that allow us to continue growing in Latin America (…) The Haus find a company with challenges, clear, open, transparent and accessible communication without a closed hierarchical structure, in which they cannot guide innovation and creativity“said Gisela López, vice president of talent, about the company, in testimonies collected by Portafolio.
According to what specialized media report, the company has reached a revenue of 135 million dollars during the development of two rounds of investment roundtables. Pete Flint, founder of NFX, for example, contributed $ 10 million. It also has investors such as Greenspring Associates, Kaszek, 75 & Sunny Ventures, Zillow and Code.org.
“La Haus was born within a real estate investment and development company, born and based in Medellín (…) Medellín is a city in which many of the factors that are tremendously important to undertake come together; there is talent, there is a series of already established companies, particularly in the real estate world and in the commercial and housing world that was the focus of this investment fund “said Rodrigo Sánchez Ríos, electrical and computer engineer behind the project, during an interview with the Las2Orillas portal.
“We, at La Haus, what we are building is the transactional infrastructure to be able to buy and sell houses one hundred percent digital. That is what differentiates La Haus from other real estate portals”He added.
According to information highlighted by Diario Criterio, La Haus generates 800 sources of employment between Colombia and Mexico. Among its partners, the portal highlighted, there are, in addition to the brothers Tomás and Jerónimo Uribe Moreno, Rodrigo Sánchez Ríos; Diego Guzmán Uribe; Pedro Mejía Villa and Federico Escobar Benavides.
Diego Guzmán Uribe, for example, is the same official who made the legal representative parts of Ecoeficencia, a recycling company owned by the Uribe Moreno brothers. The name of the specialist stands out, says Diario Criterio, because it would be the same person involved in the scandal that included land for the Western Free Zone, in Mosquera, in Cundinamarca.
In 2009, thanks to the complaint of Senator Jorge Enrique Robledo, the Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation for the alleged crimes of prevaricate by action, concussion, own bribery and bribery for giving or offering. In this case, the brothers Tomás and Jerónimo Uribe Moreno and the former mayor of Mosquera, José Álvaro Rozo Castellanos, were splattered. The investigation was closed by Martha Luz Reyes Ferro, a delegate prosecutor before the Bogotá Court.
