Discarded surveillance of National Guard in hospitals

In the cases of attacks on medical personnel, Hugo López-Gatell, undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, said that part of the federal government, there are many different elements to ensure the safety of people and equipment.

López-Gatell ruled that elements of the National Guard are going to strengthen surveillance in hospitals and clinics, as pointed out that assaults against staff are being perpetrated on the public highway, not in the health centers.

“There is No plan to militarize the country”, he emphasized. “It is very alarming that there are people who are channeling feelings like fear and anger towards the staff that protects them,” he said.

One of the recent incidents against medical personnel took place in a clinic of the IMSS, located in the mayor’s office Azcapotzalco, in Mexico City, where family members of a person who died of coronavirus, was attacked by doctors who prevented them from approaching the patient to avoid contamination.

This caused the Secretariat of Citizen Security of the CDMX (SSC-CDMX) deployed its elements in six hospitals and clinics in five municipalities where they attend to cases of coronavirus.
