LECCE – From 17 to 23 July “Classiche forme” returns to Lecce, the international chamber music festival conceived and directed by the world-famous Salento pianist Beatrice Rana, now in its seventh edition.
Thirteen scheduled appointments, in which the protagonists will not only be the notes but also the places where they will resonate. In fact, the various initiatives will be hosted by various architectural jewels not only from the city of Lecce, but also from three other Salento municipalities: Galatina, Casarano and Supersano. The eagerly awaited and consolidated event aims precisely not only to promote musical excellence but also to enhance an invaluable heritage of art, history and culture, which the young star of the piano born in Cupertino knows well and which, despite success and his performances around the world, he never forgot. “It will be a full immersion in the music and in the poignant beauty of my land – she in fact stated – which lacks only the ‘sound’ of her. My dream is that “Classiche forme” is the sound of Salento”.

As always, the initiative will see the participation of some of the greatest names in Italian and international concertism, such as cellists Mario Brunello and Giovanni Sollima, soprano Rosa Feola, flautist Emmanuel Pahud, pianist Massimo Spada, violinists Stephen Waarts and Maja Avramovic, clarinetist Kevin Spagnolo, and the “Marmen String Quartet”, but also of emerging young talents such as Ludovica Rana – Beatrice’s sister – and the enfant prodige Tim Posner together with Tim Crawford, Timothy Ridout.
Among the novelties of this edition, three nocturnal concerts in which you can admire the Baroque city from above, in the hanging gardens of the Academy of Fine Arts, from the City walls and of Maresgallo Palace, in the historic centre.

The other places involved will be the Cloister of the Rectorate and the Bernardini Library in Lecce, the Masseria Le Stanzie in Supersano, the Basilica of Santa Caterina d’Alessandria in Galatina and the Filograna Foundation Theater in Casarano.
A special preview of the Festival is then scheduled for July 15 in the Parco di Belloluogo in Lecce with a “Concert for the city”, where the eight seasons will be performed, namely the four seasons by Vivaldi and the four by Astor Piazzolla.
The Festival will then dedicate two “dutiful” tributes to Rachmaninovon the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth ea Poulenc, in the 60 years since his death. The new commission of “Classiche Forme 2023” will also be presented, entrusted to the Apulian composer Domenico Turi to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Elata, the historic Salento footwear company that has
conquered, with his artisan dedication, Hollywood stars such as Anne Hathaway, Sophia Loren and Penelope Cruz.
The rich calendar of events will close with the chamber concert in three acts conceived by Beatrice Rana, studying the layouts of the early 1900s: a real marathon with the Symphonic dances for two pianos by Rachmaninov, a second movement with Schubert, Liszt And Vocalise always by Rachmaninov, and closed with the Animal Carnival Of Saint-Saëns.
For a week Salento will therefore be transformed into a large stage, in which melodies and symphonies will echo and in which it will be possible to enjoy good live music.
