The movie

House of gucci it goes beyond the headlines of the 1995 murder and subsequent trial. It is based on a book by Sara gay forden, begins in the late 1970s and follows the relationship between Reggiani (Lady Gaga) and heir Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) from their courtship, marriage, separation and murder. The story portrays Reggiani as a Lady Macbeth type woman who helped raise Maurizio and take control of the company that was then in the hands of her uncle Aldo Gucci (Al Pacino) and her cousin Paolo Gucci (Jared Leto). “The film’s production didn’t bother to consult the heirs before describing Aldo Gucci – the company’s president for 30 years – and the Gucci family members as gangsters what were they ignorant and insensitive to the world around them, attributing completely fabricated attitudes and behaviors to the protagonists of these important events, ” says the family statement. They also say that they reserve the right to “take whatever action is necessary to protect the name, image and dignity of themselves and their loved ones.”

Tom Ford also complains

Family members aren’t the only ones close to the story who have commented on the filmmakers’ choices. The designer and filmmaker Tom Ford, who was Gucci’s creative director from 1994 to 2004 and is portrayed in the film, wrote an article for Air Mail in which he compared the experience to going through a hurricane. “It is difficult for me to divorce reality from the glossy and highly lacquered soap opera I witnessed on screen,” Ford wrote. As with most movies based on a true story, the facts are altered, the characters are exaggerated and the events twisted, and in the end, who cares as long as these alterations make a great movie? ”

“I felt deeply saddened for several days after seeing House of gucci, a reaction that I think only those of us who knew the protagonists and the story will feel. It was difficult for me to observe the humor and the hype in something that was so gory. In real life, none of that was exaggerated. At times it was absurd, but in the end it was tragic. ”
