The new Doja Cat record is already causing discussions months before its release. The rapper revealed the title, cover and release date of her new album yesterday. Scarletwill be released September 22.
There is a large pink spider on the cover. Everything would be fine, only a German hardcore metal band announced a record with the same cover at the beginning of summer. Compare them yourself:
Both covers were created by the same artist, Dusty Ray. At the time of the announcement, the German band Chaver wrote: “The cover was masterfully done by Dusty Ray (who has been with us since our first album).”
To complete the cycle, Chaver and Doji’s records will be released on the same day. While it’s unclear how Doja Cat found Dusty Ray, his obsession with spiders is quite clear. His current Instagram avatar is an eight-legged monster, and he has a spider tattoo on his left arm. It remains to be seen if this “double cover” is an illustrator’s joke or something more.
Meanwhile, Doja removed the cover from her Instagram profile.
