The new Marvel Studios movie explains that the heroes known as the Eternals weren’t allowed to interfere when Thanos threatened Earth, but there have been some indications that these immortal beings have had encounters with the Avengers in the past. During an interview with ComicBook.com, the actress revealed that they have always been there and that they have helped the Avengers without anyone being afraid.

“I think we are assuming that we know everyone because we have always existed”Jolie explained. “So we definitely had a chance to be everywhere… We’ve been, I think that’s the fun thing, now, if you look at the other (movies), we’ve been there. The question is, are there certain things that [Brian Tyree Henry] Phastos created that you have been looking and thinking that it comes from somewhere else. Was it actually Phastos or has someone else been doing it? You know, did you heal something, did something happen that you didn’t realize? I’ve been there?”.

These statements by Jolie serve in a way to fill in script holes throughout the MCU, explaining things that still had no explanation.
