The first trailer for the John Wick prequel miniseries

Ready to know the origins of the hotel chain frequented by the most dangerous killers in the world of John Wick? The streaming video service Peacock released the first official teaser trailer Of The Continentalthe event series that will tell a prequel story to the facts of the successful films of the franchise John Wick. The drama, 3 episodes long, will debut in streaming in the United States in September 2023, while in Italy it should arrive on Prime Videosthe service that acquired the rights to distribute it internationally.

The story of The Continental

Written by Greg Coolidge (Wayne, A probationary cop) And Kirk Ward (Wayne), The Continental explore the origins of the Continental, the luxury hotel chain frequented by the assassins in the movies John Wick. It is a place where they can hide and find what they need without using violence. The story is told from the point of view of a young Winston Scott (the owner of the hotel, a character who in the film franchise has the face of Ian McShane and here it is interpreted by instead Colin Woodellactor previously seen in the series The flight attendant). Scott, faced in 1975 New York with a past he thought he had left behind, fights his way through the city’s mysterious underworld in an attempt to take over the iconic hotel that will become his future base of operations.

In the teaser we glimpse some armed killers in 1970s New York City moving to the tune of Donna Summer’s disco hit I Feel Love. Then there are several guests who check into The Continental and also several bloodstained corpses who “check out” instead. Amidst a barrage of gunfire, kicks and samurai swords, a young Winston Scott lays eyes on the infamous hotel for the first time and walks through the infamous door.

The cast and the characters

Colin Woodell is joined by Mel Gibsonwho plays a mysterious character named Cormac, and Katie McGrath (Supergirl) as a character simply referred to as “The Judge”. Ray McKinnon (Rectify) will be a character named Jenkins, Adam Shapiro (I never…) will be Lemmy, while Mark Musashi And Marina Mazepa they will star as the assassins “Hansel & Gretel”. The cast includes, among others, too Mishel Prada (Vida), Ben Robson (Animal Kingdom) And Hubert Point Du-Jour (The Good Lord Bird).

The series The Continental is just one of many projects born to expand the universe of John Wick. After the recent release of the fourth chapter at the cinema, the spin-off will arrive in 2024 Dancer with Ana De Armas and, perhaps, a fourth spin-off that could be announced soon.
