Between January 2020 and July 2021, the average salary of the IT industry increased by 107%, reaching on this last date a value of $ 162,600 according to the latest survey carried out by the Chamber of the Argentine Software Industry (CESSI), through Permanent Observatory of the Software and Information Services Industry (OPSSI). In addition, according to the study, wages on average double the value of the basic food basket for a five-member household in Greater Buenos Aires.
Another relevant piece of information that emerges from the report is that, at the official exchange rate, the salary of the sector in dollars it has grown by 30% between January 2020 and July 2021. And it is estimated that in pesos the increase would be 22% between July 2021 and what was projected to January 2022, which means that at the beginning of next year it would be achieved an average compensation of $ 198,400.
“In addition to having some of the best salaries in the country, we are a sector with a shortage of talent, since historically there are around 5,000 unfilled positions, a number that can grow to 15,000 if the unmet demand for IT professionals in other industries. That is why more than ever we must focus on making our 2030 Plan a reality, which seeks to train new professionals and achieve more than 500,000 formal, quality, inclusive and federal jobs ”, explains Sergio Candelo, president of CESSI.
With a growth of 48% compared to the previous edition, a record number of 35,400 employees participated in the survey, belonging to 225 micro, small, medium and large technology companies distributed throughout the national territory.
