Tapia was a historic former president of Barracas Central. In fact, the stadium is named after him. And, currently, his children are still in the club: Matías Tapia is the president, while Iván is a first team footballer.

El Chiqui was in the box at the Florencio Sola stadium in the final between Tigre and El Guapo. At the time of the award ceremony, Marcelo Achile -president of Defensores de Belgrano and the Primera Nacional in AFA- was in charge of delivering the trophy to the Matador players.
