On July 30, American rapper Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, was involved in an accident during a live performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas, Nevada. The singer, after reaching for a plastic cup of beer, fiercely turned to the man, before throwing him the microphone into which he sang. The video, which went viral on TikTok, seemed likely to open a disciplinary case against the author, who instead reassured fans the next day of the charges against her. At that time, the microphone was sold on Ebay by Scott Fisher., owner of The Wave Inc, a Las Vegas-based audio company that put the audio equipment in place on the day of the crash. The latest offer, completed in the last few hours, sold the microphone for around $90,000.

Hours after the crash and discovery of the microphone, Fisher explained that it would be auctioned off for a charity operation: the proceeds would be split between two charities. On the one hand, the Las Vegas Circle of Friendship for teens and young adults with special needs, and on the other, the Wounded Warriors Project for wounded veterans. In a message about the sale of the microphone, Fisher wrote: “We provided more than one mic for this particular show and consulted with an internal team that Cardi used specifically for the show. It was fairly easy to identify him, as his microphone was marked as the main one.. It’s the mic that flew across the country through the crowd after Cardi hit it with a beer glass. The microphone still works as I checked when it came back to the audio store..”

Meanwhile, the first 50 of the last 122 submissions to reach Ebay mail they raised the price above $50,000. Fischer also added a later post in which he asked that the payment of the proposed proposals be taken seriously: “Sand you want a piece of gangsta hip hop and what has by now become the protagonist of national and world history, please offer as much as you are willing to spend. This is a serious auction and the money will go to a good cause. In an interview with CBS News, Fisher said he was surprised by the figure, while Cardi B would not have to face disciplinary action for his behaviour: The rapper’s lawyers Drew Findling, David Chesnoff and Richard Schoenfeld told TMZ.
