The most incredible dresses of the stars on display at Kensington Palace

The surprising dress chosen by Blake Lively for the 2022 Met Gala and the outfit worn by Beyoncé during her pregnancy at the 2017 Grammys will be on display in London together with about 200 other garments, including star dresses and accessories that have made the history of the fashion from royal living rooms to red carpets.

And not only that: the new exhibition Crown to Couture will be set up inside Kensington Palacewhere William, Kate and Harry also lived for a long time.

Crown to Couture traces the history of high fashion from the 18th century royal court to today’s red carpetsand is the largest exhibition ever staged at the palace.

On display not only the clothes of the stars

Kensington Palace, which itself is a stage for today’s royal fashion, will open the doors to its splendid state apartments, where visitors will find more than 200 objects on display, including a whole series of dresses that literally leave you breathless.

Also on display is one Spectacular jewelry collectionincluding the brooch worn by the late Queen Elizabeth II when she was photographed front row at London Fashion Week just a few years ago.

The exhibition will be created by Historic Royal Palaces – the charity that looks after the royal residences – in collaboration with designer Joseph Bennett, known for his work on the Alexander McQueen fashion shows.

«We are thrilled to collaborate with a wide variety of well-known fashion houses and emerging designers to showcase some of the most iconic red carpet looks of recent years and celebrate the wonderful diversity and creativity we see today”says Claudia Acott Williams, curator of Historic Royal Palaces.

“By bringing these familiar gowns into the palace and putting them into conversation with spectacular 18th-century court dress, we hope to provide a fresh perspective on these historic spaces and the period costumes still able to influence the fashion of the moment»
