The first names for the stage of the MTV Video Music Awards have already been announced. The awards ceremony will take place on August 30 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, in the United States. BTS, J Balvin, and Doja Cat will perform at the ceremony. BTS will take the opportunity to present the new single ‘Dynamite’.
Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga are the artists who got the most nominations in the 2020 edition. Both are nominated in nine categories, including for Video of the Year with the theme ‘Rain On Me’. Balvin (‘RHYTHM – Bad Boys for Life’), Ed Sheeran and Khalid (‘Beautiful People ‘), Future and Drake (‘ Life Is Good ‘), KAROL G and Nicki Minaj (‘ Tusa ‘) and Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande (‘ Rain On Me ‘).
The ceremony this year marks the return of prize-giving to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, this has not happened since 2013. The capacity of the room is limited due to Covid-19. Also due to the pandemic, two new categories were added: Best Home Video and Best Performance in the Quarantine.
