Whether they knew it or not, National Supply Month is approaching Tuesday, and New York City’s fashionistas are out to pay homage to what they do best: party.
To celebrate the launch of its Consign Commitment initiative, The RealReal hosted a Holiday Bar dinner on Tuesday night. Laurent’s red dress with a deep V-neck, black eye shadow and red lips. Lyons’ rumored fiancé, photographer Cass Bird, was also in attendance and the trio spoke to Helena Christensen, who also wore red for the evening, about it.
Other guests included Rebecca Hall, Pat Cleveland, AnnaSophia Robb, Katie Eng, Jihye Kim, Minnie Mills, Rainey Qualley, Huma Abedin, Angelica Hicks, Isabella Massenet, Susan Korn, Alana Zimmer, Bruna Tenorio and others.
The RealReal also highlighted a celebrity-curated wardrobe sale featuring items from VIPs from Kate Moss to Julianne Moore.
Guests sipped white wine and dirty martinis during cocktail hour to a soundtrack by Trisha Yearwood and Carly Rae Jepsen before sitting down to a family-style lunch.
Sebastian Treng, Ph.D., vice president of Conservation Partnerships at Conservation International, welcomed attendees with a reminder of fashion’s impact on the environment.
“We want to partner with a sector that can actually have a significant and global impact on the world, and when you think about the fashion sector, the way we produce and consume fashion today has a significant impact on the planet. ” he said. “The fashion sector actually has a greater climate impact than all shipping and all air travel combined. Fashion is the second largest consumer of fresh water in the world. We’re excited to partner with The RealReal because that’s what we needs to be done to change this equation.”
“Fashion has always been a big part of me and an escape, and it’s always been something that’s been taken very seriously in my family,” said Rati Sahi Levesque, president and chief operating officer of The RealReal. “I remember my mother making socks as a child and making sure things weren’t thrown away. 2,000 items are thrown away every second, and with this we really wanted to start changing people’s behavior.”
She also called on everyone to commit to sending every fifth item each month, with proceeds going to Conservation International.
