the request for Stranger Things 5 that the authors denied to Millie Bobby Brown

Stranger Things has now reached what will be its fifth and last season, and is preparing to definitively close the events of the group of friends residing in Hawkins.

With the start of filming for the new episodes ever closer, many familiar faces of the series have had the opportunity to express their expectations for theexpected ending. Among them is Millie Bobby Brownby now a true icon of the show, who on the narrative front would also have tried to make a particular request to the directors of the series, the Duffer Brothers.

During an interview given to The Wrap the actress would have commented on the death of some characters of the series. As you will recall, at the end of the fourth season, the beloved Eddie Munson lost his life in the clash with Vecna, while Max ended up in a coma.

The interpreter of Eleven, for his part, would favor a much greater quantity of deaths, and would agree with a possible carnage in order to thin out the now large number of characters introduced in the various seasons of Stranger Things. A concept expressed by leaning on another famous series known for its brutality:

We need to be like Game of Throneswe have to have that mentality.

The actress did not say she was particularly optimistic about this eventuality, defining the directors as “sensitive souls“, to the point of bringing back the character of Jim Hopper just one episode away from his departure. There response from the Duffer Brothers however, she did not wait. When asked about a possible consideration of Brown’s request, they gave an unequivocal answer:

Trust us, we explored every possibility, every option in the writing stages. But we are not the Iron Throne. This is Hawkinsnot Westeros.

The two directors also talked about the emotional weight which weighs on the young characters of the series, who have had to suffer more than one loss over the seasons. The Duffers make particular reference to Barb’s death, which in hindsight took two seasons to process:

This is me defending Millie Bobby Brown’s accusations that I’m a sensitive soul and explaining that there’s a logic behind it that has no nothing to do with sensitivity. So here you go, Millie.

At the moment the probable release window of the fifth and final season of the series has not yet been communicated, in the meantime we remind you that the first four seasons of Stranger Things are currently available to stream on Netflix.
