The Resident 7 will not be there, Fox has canceled the TV series
The Resident 7, no seventh season for the medical starring Matt Czuchry. After weeks of rumors, the official fate has finally arrived The Resident, whose sixth – and at this point final – season aired from September 20 to January 17 on Fox in the United States. The TV series will not return for a seventh cycle of episodes: the cancellation was formalized by the American network Fox, broadcaster of the series since its debut in 2018. In Italy, the sixth and final season of The Resident started again from April 5th and ends on May 13th in exclusive streaming on Disney +.

Why The Resident was cancelled
Season 6’s declining ratings – an 18% drop in the 18-49 viewer demographic, and an 11% loss in viewers on average compared to season 5 -, and the order of episodes practically halved (13 episodes against the 23 of the fifth season) had already been an omen of the imminent cancellation. Added to these factors is the announcement that Fox will make an American remake of Doc – In your hands, medical which will thus fill the void left by The Resident in the schedules of the US network.
Matt Czuchry won’t sit idle for long: the actor remains in the family of Disney Television Studios (production house of The Resident) and will be among the protagonists of season 12 of American Horror Story alongside Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts.

Over six seasons and 107 episodes, the TV series recounted the daily heroic gestures of healthcare workers in American hospitals. The provocative medical drama follows the doctors and nurses at Chastain Memorial Hospital as they face personal and professional challenges and fight for the health of their patients. Alongside Matt Czuchry in the cast also include Manish Dayal, Jane Leeves, Jessica Lucas, Anuja Joshi, Miles Fowler, Malcolm-jamal Warner, Bruce Greenwood and Andrew McCarthy. The series was created by Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore and Roshan Sethi.
