The news is official: The Resident will not have a seventh season. After six successful seasons and 107 episodes, the TV series will not return for another episode cycle and Fox has formalized the cancellation. The Resident, starring Matt Czuchry, recounted the daily heroic deeds of healthcare workers in American hospitals. The series follows the doctors and nurses at Chastain Memorial Hospital as they face personal and professional challenges and fight for the health of their patients.
Season 6’s declining ratings, with an 18 percent drop in the 18-49-year-old viewer demographic, and reduced episode order (13 versus 23 for season 5) already signaled the imminent cancellation. In addition, Fox will make an American remake of Doc – In your hands, medical which will fill the void left by The Resident in the US network schedules.
Matt Czuchry, however, will not sit idly by: the actor will remain in the family of Disney Television Studios, the production house of The Resident, and will be among the protagonists of season 12 of American Horror Story alongside Kim Kardashian and Emma roberts.
In Italy, the airing of the sixth and final season of The Resident has restarted from April 5 and will end on May 13 in exclusive streaming on Disney +.
