this Aging and Disability Vaccine Partnership It’s Lamy Center, Maryland Living Wellness Center of Excellence (LWCE), Aging in America, and Meals on Wheels. The partnership coordinates outreach efforts and provides education and vaccine clinics in 10 Maryland counties and Baltimore City through April 2024. Specialty and independent pharmacies will also join the partnership to administer the vaccine.
“Our partnership with USAging and Maryland Living Wellness leverages the Lamy Center’s expertise in education and clinical services for older adults,” said Nicole Brandt, PharmD, MBA, BCGP, FASCP, Executive Director and Professor, Lamy Center Department of Practice, Science and Health Outcomes Research. “This initiative will help thousands of seniors across the state learn about and receive a safe and effective vaccine to prevent serious illness.”
The Ramey Center’s goals for the event are to educate 6,000 seniors about vaccines, provide 3,000 vaccines and assist up to 1,500 participants in finding vaccine sites and making appointments. The campaign will initially focus on the shingles vaccine and will include COVID-19 and flu vaccines in the fall. Information about pneumococcal and hepatitis B vaccines will also be provided. In addition to working with senior communities, the partnership will survey, educate and provide vaccination opportunities to Meals on Wheels clients in Central Maryland.
