Depp plays a pop star who finds himself at a crossroads following the death of his mother and a nervous breakdown. While trying to come to terms with herself, she meets modern cult leader Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye) which has a huge impact on both his career and personal life.

While Levinson, The Weeknd and Depp said at a press conference in Cannes that the character of Jocelyn was not inspired by Britney Spears (You might remember the pop star’s famous song in 2007), Coleman revealed that she was inspired by the pop princess to create Jocelyn’s look, and also by another 2000s star, Christina Aguilera, “I would say Christina Aguilera and Britney were really the stars that we drew inspiration from,” the makeup artist explained. “When she’s on stage performing like a pop star like Jocelyn, the role models are just those two.”
