Another notable demonstration, perhaps the best, is that when Carell works on a lighter version of melodrama, she hits the mark. Together with inspiration Keira Knightley is the protagonist of this fantasy comedy that has some really good intimate moments with a truly amazingly bittersweet backdrop. Director Lorraine Scafaria, Looking for love at the end of the world would have deserved much more recognition from critics and the public. Also in the cast Connie Britton and big Martin Sheen. Foxcatcher (2014)

Steve Carell’s acting masterpiece, which is even close to an Oscar, came about thanks to sensationally subtle direction Bennet Miller. Based on a true story, fox catcher it is a bruised and dark sports drama wrapped in a sense of inevitable tragedy. Channing Tatum perfect and Mark Ruffalo who deserved an Oscar for their support equally well. What a powerful and very black film this is!
