'Mission: Impossible 7' director: 'The train scene wasn't inspired by Uncharted 2'

Director of “Mission: Impossible: Death Payback, Part One” Christopher McQuarrie, spoke on Threads about the alleged similarity between a scene in the film and the video game Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, with Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt fighting a dangling train. Co-director Bruce Straley also hinted at possible inspiration coming from an episode in Uncharted. But Christopher McQuarrie denied All.

The director has stated that he is not well versed in the gaming universe and that he cannot use Uncharted as inspiration for the film. In the past, some viewers have reported that McQuarrie mentioned Uncharted in Rogue Nation’s fight scene, but the director denied even so, claiming he was using the word “uncharted” literally, not referring to the game.

Denials that disappointed fans of Uncharted and Mission: Impossible who were hoping to find confirmation in the similarities between the two franchises.

Dead Reckoning Part One brings agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) back to the big screen, backed by his big team, as he tries to thwart another threat to the world on a journey that takes viewers from Dubai to Rome and Venice.

Also starring Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby and Hayley Atwell.
