«The tribute to my parents in the new songs»

“I’m very much in love with music.” Rosalino Cellamarein art Ron, immediately gets to the center of its essence. Marked by a long artistic history, which began at the age of 16 with Nada in San Remo. Author of songs written for himself and for great artists: from From the to De Gregorifrom Vanoni to Nuisance. Voice, guitar and piano arrives on Thursday at the Conciliazione Auditorium with “I am a son live tour”. «It’s a more intimate concert, with all-time songs that recall important moments in my life, some taken from the new album, and gems like Cannon ballcovers of Cannonball Of Damien Rice», begins the singer-songwriter from Pavia, 70 years old in August.

Do you regret not being a father?

«I would have liked to, but a son must be respected. You have to be there, not run away, on tour. The album is a tribute to my wonderful parents who supported me wholeheartedly. I just wanted to sing. They told me: “If you really want it, you have to do it well”.

“I told who I am. Written and played with talented authors and musicians across the courtyard, in my recording studio, the Angel. Here I invited colleagues like Julius Wilson author of the beautiful Cats, Paul Fresuan artist of extraordinary inner peace, which he embellished with his trumpet A spaceship in the sky. Many ask me what do I do Garlasco. Only here, in this one former chocolate factory where I live, I can write songs. And that’s the most important thing.”

Play in Rome, where it all began…

“It’s a crazy city. I saw it for the first time when I was 16 with my father. Here I met Renato Zerodressed in a leopard print onesie and From the in plaster after a car accident. We had an appointment at RCA to hear Girl’s eyes. I should have sung it in Sanremo, but she was not admitted by the selectors. »

“I listen to everything. I love to sing songs that have something special. With my sister Enrica we adapted the text of Break My Heart Again of Finneas, the brother of Billie Eilishwith the title That Fire. Music belongs to everyone. You have to treat her well, especially in Sanremo (laughs!) ».

“I’ve heard a few songs, aside Mengoni. It’s like the bar has dropped. We need to let ourselves be carried away by inspiration, go back to dreaming. Strive to write good texts, respecting the words. Our world has undergone a retreat. We revolve too much around ourselves. Songwriting struggles. If you go to a record company with a song at De André, it doesn’t get you. The focus is on rappers who have erased a musical world. At least they could add notes to the voice.’

Lucio Dalla would have turned 80 on 4 March.

“He was a brother, a father. He enlightened those around him. And he looked beyond. When I wrote Beware of the Wolf my mother warned me not to give it to anyone. Lucio went crazy, and said “If you make me sing it, we’ll sell a million copies”. It sold a million and a half. He was generous, he knew how to love you. During the early 90’s I was unhappy. I was not in the standings, I got angry. Lucio left on my guitar a text, which he initially wanted to call Americaand wrote: “Look, you have talent and strength, live your life serenely”».
