‘The Voice’ Most Nasty Coaches’ Fights Revealed, Including Blake Shelton’s Battle with Kelly Clarkson and Camila Cabello

THE VOICE viewers witnessed heated arguments between the singing competition coaches over the show’s 23-season run.

From Blake Shelton’s numerous fights with Kelly Clarkson to the country music star’s feud with singer Jennifer Hudson, there’s just as much drama going on off the stage as there is on it.

The playful banter between Blake and former coach Adam Levine aside, The Voice coaches pull few punches when it comes to their nasty on-air battles.

MEDIUM MOVEMENT

Last season, Blake, 45, criticized Kelly, 41, for making a head-scratching move while fans were watching the show’s “Battle” segment, in which two teammates go head-to-head and only one competitor advances.

Two members of Kelly’s team, ALI and D.Smooth, competed together performing Allen Stone’s Unaware.

The American Idol alum had a hard time deciding who would win the round, but he ultimately chose deaf singer Ali.

Since ALI won, D.Smoot could have been stolen by another judge.

Instantly, 30-year-old Chance The Rapper pressed the button, alerting the crowd that he was ready to steal D.Smooth.

However, Kelly had an ace up her sleeve when she decided to use her playoff pass on D.Smoot, instantly sending him into the playoff round.

Kelly told Chance, “I’m a little embarrassed because you might want to work with him, but I don’t care, man. Like, I love you.”

She told D. Smoot that he “has the gift of reaching the finals.”

Kelly explained why she used the pass: “I had to use my pass in the playoffs against D. Smoot because I just want him to advance.

“I want him to make the playoffs and I want to see what he’s going to do and he’s hungry for it, y’all. He wants it.”

Chance was not surprised that Kelly used her pass as he stated, “This is the second time I tried to steal, but I knew 100 percent that she was going to use her pass in the playoffs then.”

Rookie judge Niall Horan, 30, told Kelly her turn was “impressive”.

Meanwhile, Blake exclaimed that it was one of the “meanest things” he had ever seen at a singing competition.

THE GAME HAS BEGUN

Blake and Season 21 coach Ariana Grande made fun of Kelly with a new drinking game.

The show’s host Kelly Clarkson was criticized by her fellow coaches for constantly saying “navigation” when praising contestants.

During the blind auditions, Blake and Ariana, 30, couldn’t help but notice how many times Kelly said the word “navigation.”

Previously, Blake said: “Ariana and I noticed that Kelly uses the word ‘navigation’ a lot.”

“She knows how to navigate this competition, she’s been on this show and she knows how to navigate it.”

And every time she said that word during the fifth round of blinds, the country singer and 7 Rings hitmaker would subtly clink her black The Voice mugs.

Fellow coach John Legend, 44, told cameras: “Blake and Ariana decided Kelly was saying ‘navigation’ a lot.”

“They started a little ‘ringing game.’ I think Kelly is trying to ‘make’ his way into the thesaurus.”

Kelly responded to her coaches, “That’s the word you use…okay, I’ll look up some synonyms for the word navigation.”

“What should I do? Blunt? Read the book!”

“I said that too,” Ariana admitted. “That’s the right word.”

However, things between Blake and Ariana weren’t always so friendly, with the Positions singer previously accusing him of being jealous.

Appearing on Kelly’s daytime talk show, Ariana was warmly received by the audience.

“This is what it sounds like on The Voice when the coaches come out. This is exactly what it should sound like to all of us,” Kelly admitted.

Ariana chimed in and said, “Blake got so mad,” Kelly joked, “Blake said, ‘I don’t want to follow her anymore.’

COMING OUT

That same season, Blake and Kelly’s constant bickering led fellow coaches Ariana and John to apologize mid-taping.

According to Good Housekeeping, the controversy began when the coaches tried to beat singer Lana Scott.

Both Blake and Kelly wanted the country musician on their teams after Lana wowed the couple with her rendition of Kelsea Ballerini’s “Hole in the Bottle.”

The coaches argued about who knew more about country music and which coach had won the most singing championships.

Kelly took the controversy to a more personal level when she warned Lana not to pick a “liar” for her coach.

Both John and Ariana looked exhausted from the fight, with John even pausing to ask, “Can Ariana and I even talk?”

Ignored by the bickering coaches, the POV performer offered her and John a snack while Kelly and Blake continued to fight over the contestant’s loyalty.

The pair walked away, remaining virtually unnoticed by the still arguing coaches, and left the court.

Viewers were shown John and Ariana snacking on popcorn backstage while Blake and Kelly made their presentations.

Ultimately, Lana chose Blake, much to Kelly’s chagrin.

INCORRECT COMMENTS

Blake made a NSFW comment to Camila Cabello, 26, during the wild season 22 premiere of The Voice.

The former Fifth Harmony member just joined the team as the new coach, and the country star has been on the series since its debut in 2011.

Shortly after the premiere episode, Blake interrupted Camila’s confessional backstage interview with some harsh words—some of them NSFW.

Proving just how competitive he is, the country singer tried to throw the new coach off her game by not only surprising her backstage, but also making it with some strange comments.

He chose Camila’s ensemble for her first day: a black dress with a puff-sleeved blouse underneath and a large pink flower attached to the neck.

After Camila told Blake that she tells the cameraman all about her tricks to win, he sarcastically joked: “Are those your puffy sleeves? Is this a pirate shirt?

She simply agreed and said: “Ahh!”

As he continued his comments, she found it difficult to muster anything other than a shocked laugh.

“Is your flower splashing? “Is it a splashing flower,” he asked, realizing a little after he said it and after she started giggling, “that his remark had a real sexual innuendo.

Blake added: “It sounds weird when I say it like that. Almost inappropriate and disgusting.”

Still laughing, but now pointing at him and looking a little awkward, she told him, “That’s what I was going to say. Very inappropriate.”

WRONG PRONUNCIATION

Blake ruffled feathers again when he made fun of Camila just a few episodes into the season.

Veteran trainer Blake and newcomer Camila got off to a rocky start as fans noticed quite a bit of banter between the two.

Sitting next to each other in the coach’s chairs, prankster Blake called out to her, saying: “Camila, stepped over my joke.”

Ignoring the rest of his statement, the new coach only responded to Blake for mispronouncing her name, despite the fact that he had already worked together on the show for several episodes.

Camila clapped after hearing the country star say “Ka-milla” instead of “Ka-mila”: “You’re still mispronouncing my name!”

Oblivious, he told her, “I know, I did it on purpose.”

The Fifth Harmony alum revealed that this isn’t the first time he’s mispronounced her name, sharing, “He calls me Cammilla, Carmichael, Chameleon.”

That’s when Blake continued to mock her nickname, telling her: “I can’t help the fact that your name is spelled wrong. It’s right here for me to see. It says Kah-millah.

Fans of The Voice weren’t happy with Blake’s joke about Camila’s name and took to social media to defend the 25-year-old.

One upset viewer fumed: “This is not even close to funny or a joke, it’s just disrespectful.”

Another clapped: “Correctly spelled. You just need Spanish or Italian lessons, haha.”

“I’m totally team Camila,” a third wrote.

NOT SO FRIENDLY FEUD

As Radar reports, during Season 13 of the televised competition, there seemed to be some tension behind the scenes between none other than Blake and then-rookie coach Jennifer Hudson, 42.

An insider said: “Blake told Jennifer straight up that she was an entitled bitch and that he had never worked with anyone who was so difficult to be around.

“He thinks she’s trying to get attention, which she is. But it creates a lot of tension both on and off camera.”

The source also stated that Blake may have been concerned about the outstanding team Jennifer assembled during the show’s blind auditions.

“The fact that Jennifer has assembled such amazing talent on her team drives Blake crazy. They both argue non-stop and he has lost his temper several times already.

“But she knows he can’t stand her, and that makes her push his buttons even more,” the source said.

In addition to her feud with Blake, the insider claimed that Jennifer has amassed “enemies like no other judge” and that “several contestants cried backstage after the blind auditions because of her comments.”
