The war in Gaza is long and difficult, and after it everyone will be questioned

After the unprecedented bombing and ground operation in the Gaza Strip, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted that the war in the Gaza Strip will be long and difficult, stressing that the goal is to eliminate the Hamas movement.

At a press conference attended by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and mini-government member Benny Gantz, he denied committing war crimes in Gaza, claiming that these accusations were “a kind of hypocrisy,” according to his statement .

He then returned and promised to eliminate Hamas, saying: “The army will destroy the enemy above and below ground,” according to his claims.

He stressed that the goal is clear: eliminate Hamas’ capabilities and free prisoners.

Amid overwhelming domestic anger, the Prime Minister announced that everyone, including himself, would be interrogated after the war in Gaza ended.

He met the families of the prisoners

He further revealed that communications to free prisoners continue, including with the ground operation.

Faced with growing anger over the unknown fate of the hostages, the Israeli prime minister explained that Israel will consider “all options” to secure the release of more than 220 hostages held by Palestinian factions in Gaza since October 7.

Netanyahu agreed to meet with representatives of the prisoners’ families, who asked to see the government’s plan to address the crisis.

While he did not commit to an exchange deal, he informed representatives of the prisoners’ families that he would “exhaust all options to return them.”

“The attacks could force Hamas to disband.”

For his part, the Israeli Defense Minister said that the army will strengthen its attacks against Hamas to force it to adopt the solutions it wants.

He added that the greater the pressure on Hamas, the greater the possibility that the prisoners will return.

While Gantz believes that the ground operation could help return them, stressing that the war will continue until the situation in Gaza changes.

“Prisoners in exchange for the whitewashing of prisons”

On the other hand, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, announced on Saturday that they were willing to release prisoners held during the attack on Israel on the 7th of this month in exchange for the release of all Palestinian prisoners.

Abu Ubaida, a Phalange spokesman, said in an audio recording that the price Israel must pay for this large number of prisoners is to empty the prisons of all Palestinian prisoners, saying: “Prisoners in exchange for the whitewashing of prisons.”

He added that Israel procrastinated on the issue of prisoners and did not show seriousness, indeed, its bombing resulted in the killing of nearly 50 of them.

He further added that if Israel wants to divide the dossier, Hamas is ready, underlining that the movement is ready for the ground battle.

New phase

Interestingly, the Israeli army announced that it had moved to a new phase of the war against Hamas in Gaza, while the ground forces continued their operations in the Palestinian Strip, which was bombed.

Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy added that it is not possible to destroy Hamas without entering Gaza, stressing that Israel will do everything in its power to recover the prisoners, as he said.

On the twenty-second day of fighting, which caused thousands of deaths, the Gaza Strip, besieged by Israel and inhabited by around 2.4 million people, remained isolated from the world, with communications and Internet service interrupted, in light of the situation the continuous bombings after a bloody night the likes of which had not been seen since the war since 7 October.

For three weeks the Israeli army has been launching devastating bombings in response to the unprecedented attack launched by Hamas against Israel, which caused the death of 1,400 people.
