The WTA Finals is an event that brings together eight of the best tennis players on the field, This year it will be held in Cancún (Mexico) from 29 October to 5 November.
Despite Saudi Arabia’s proposal and controversy on the tour, the WTA has decided to return to Mexico, where the event is already being held in 2021, albeit in Guadalajara.
A year after being held in Fort Worth (USA), the Masters is headed to Cancun by sponsor GS Sports Management, The company is already responsible for organizing the 2021 events, as well as the WTA 1,000 in Guadalajara, the WTA 250 in Merica and the WTA 125 in St. Louis.

The WTA planned to host the WTA Year-End Finals in Shenzhen (China) from 2019 to 2028, but the agreement was terminated first by the coronavirus pandemic and then by the tennis body’s decision to sever ties with the Asian country. Because of the situation of tennis player Peng Shuai, who has accused a senior Chinese official of sexual abuse, his whereabouts and condition remain unknown.
However, despite resuming relations with China this year, the WTA, which oversees other options such as the Czech Republic, decided to move the event to Cancún.
The ‘race’ is currently led by Aryna Sabalenka, followed by Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina, all three of whom have qualified for the tournament. Worse still was Frenchman Caroline Garcia, the defending champion who is now 22nd on her way to Cancun.
