The Caldas District Health Directorate (DTSC) invites the community to participate in its fourth National Vaccination Day on Saturday, August 26. To improve vaccination coverage and prevent preventable diseases, about 80 vaccination sites have been set up in hospitals, health service centers and major parks in various cities.
Alba Arboleda Mejía, PAI Vaccination Coordinator at DTSC, emphasized the importance of updating the vaccination schedule on this day, especially for boys and girls under 6 years old. Biological products will be provided to prevent diseases such as Rotavirus, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio, Influenza, Pneumococcus, Measles, Rubella and Covid-19 vaccination. Arboleda Mejía also pointed out the relevance of vaccination against Covid-19 and influenza in people over 60 years old and in people of all ages with comorbidities.
The coordinator emphasized that vaccination is essential to prevent disease and stressed that timely updating of vaccination programs is crucial, as failure to do so may endanger health and lives, especially among children. He stressed the importance of vaccinating minors against diseases such as Covid-19 and influenza, which also affect the youngest.
Vaccinations in Manizales
Meanwhile, the Manizales Mayor’s Office invites the public to participate in Vaccination Day, which will be held this Saturday, August 26, from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Fundadores Mall.
Vaccines will be provided at these sites for the following target populations:
- Population of children under six years of age: The vaccination schedule (all vaccines) will be completed as needed.
- Children aged 2, 3, 4 and 5: Renew the program and reinforce the triple virus.
- Girls 9 to 17 years: Human papillomavirus (HPV).
- Pregnant women: Tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (TdaP) vaccination.
- Women of reproductive age (MEF) aged 10 to 49 years: Tetanus (Td).
- Susceptible persons aged 1 to 59 years: yellow fever.
- Children born January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2019: additional dose of measles-rubella (SR).
- General population over 6 months: Covid-19 (program will be initiated and completed as needed) Additional doses (Confa San Marcel).
- Target population (MSM, sex workers, transgender women, injecting drug users, homeless, Aboriginal and migrants): Hepatitis B in adults (to be finalized only).
