As speculated last week, Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021 kicked off with a new trailer for the reboot of Saints row. With the simple title of “Saints Row”, the trailer revealed a radically different look for the GTA-like series. Actually, to use the word reboot properly, none of the original characters we’ve come to know and love are around.
This new series of band members will be led by actor Bryce Charles. In the role of “Boss”, players will not have a character creator this time. There’s more of an actual plot, rather than loosely linked missions culminating in an alien invasion and a universe-altering reboot. A short gameplay snippet showed us what appeared to be familiar gameplay mechanics, though it’s hard to really know what was going on.
Starting from the end of Saints row: Gat Out of Hell, there is a possibility that characters like Johnny Gat, Shaundi and Pierce return in this installment. However, that doesn’t seem like the current goal, which is good. Better to start a reboot on a different note than constantly trying to tie things back.
Don’t Miss: Lana Rhoades teases her boyfriend during a Twitch stream.
The launch of Saints row is scheduled for February 25, 2022, for PC (via Epic Games Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.
It’s a shame it’s not a true next-gen exclusive, but if there is crossover play, all will be forgiven. The title can now be reserved in the digital store of each platform.
