The Brooklyn Nets have a new surprise in the NBA in the form of young Cam Thomas, who scored 17 points in his tenth game on Friday.
He averaged 29.1 points per game in his first 10 starts, the highest scoring average by a player making his NBA debut since the 1970-71 season, surpassing Michael Jordan (27.3 points per game).
The Nets won a very close game and the Bulls got the final ball in a close game when Zach LaVine’s 3-pointer was deflected off the rim.
Dorian Finney-Smith scored 21 points, Mikal Bridges scored 20 points and made three three-pointers, and Cam Thomas scored 17 points and also made three three-pointers.
LaVine and DeMar DeRozan each scored 24 points, Coby White scored 18 points, and Nikola Vucevic contributed a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
One big difference in this game is the three-point shooting percentage. The Nets have 18, while the Bulls have 11. Brooklyn currently sits at 3-2, while Chicago fell to 2-4.
Chicago and Brooklyn are in Group C in the East along with the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic and Toronto Raptors. The first group will advance directly to the knockout stage with the winners of the other five groups and advance with the two runners-up with the best results.
Las Vegas will host the semifinals and finals Dec. 7-9 at T-Mobile Arena in a Final Four format.
