CAGLIARI – Music, shows, live performances by great artists and hip-hop and freestyle challenges to liven up warm summer nights in lesser known spots of the city. Cagliari Live, a project initiated by the Municipality of Cagliari and created for a wide variety of public through hundreds of tailor-made proposals to suit different tastes and interests, is preparing to enter the center of the Cagliari summer. The Sardegna Concerti, together with the Il Jazzino Association, one of the organizers of the event and jazz in Sardegna, presents a rich program consisting of dozens of appointments, mostly with free admission, with many collateral activities and initiatives dedicated to young people in the name of sustainability, inclusivity and accessibility. Amongst the many events, there will also be space for hip-hop and break-dancing competitions, sound performances for very young people aged 0-6, field exploration experiences, food and wine tastings and dedicated promotions for those who choose to attend events with sustainable mobility solutions in partnership with Playcar car sharing company.

It begins on Tuesday 25 July with three days of music on stage in the lush green spaces of the former Pirri Glass Factory. The first evening is dedicated to tradition with an appointment that aims to focus strongly on enhancing the island’s culture through a mix of contemporary artistic languages. The protagonist is Maria Giovanna Cherchi, singer from Bolotana and ambassador of the Sardinian musical tradition to the world, who will perform with her pianist and act as conductor in an evening that will include performances by young soloists or highly talented ensembles including Angelica Nioi and Veronica Persio and the Amame Vocal Ensemble. On the same stage, on July 26, the orchestral rapture of the Sardica Orchestra with a special guest, American Alan Kaplan, one of the best American trombonists, accompanied other stars such as Marvin Gaye, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga. Thursday 27 July, the last of three evenings scheduled in the former glass factory venues, has a real surprise: the spectacular return to Sardinia of Tonino Carotone, the Spanish singer-songwriter originally from Burgos, who will surely get the audience dancing with his Atlico Romantico tour in the fields of Latin sounds and rhythms, jazz variations and rock and songwriting. Carotone will be on stage with his extraordinary musicians for the SEDAC event at San Gavino Monreale on July 28 and at Cala Gonone Jazz on July 29.

After the August break, the spectacular Caravan of Live Cagliari heads to the Sant’Elia district, where on Friday 8 September, in the venues of the Lazzaretto, singer-songwriter, percussionist and drummer Marina Rei will perform, recently acclaimed on the stage of the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari, in the company of Carmen Consoli. Thanks to the concerts organized by Francesca Romana Motzo, emotions even for the little ones. Saturday 9 September, venue for hip-hop, funk, electronic and pop music with top artists of the island scene: starting at 7pm, the hip-hop competition will be held in the venues of the Lazzaro di Sant’Elia, an event celebrating the four arts of hip-hop, namely b-boying (or breakdancing), linked to dance, linked to writing, painting and calligraphy, and DJing and MCing, which form the musical aspect of this culture The evening includes a writing contest with four participants, a break-dancing contest and a freestyle (rap) battle. The event was organized in association with Black Solution.

Friday the 22nd (7pm), at the Lazaretto di Sant’Elia, Move Your Soul, an evening celebrating sustainable mobility in collaboration with Playcar, sponsor of the entire program of the Sardegna concerti in Cagliari dal Vivo. Protagonist electronic music, DJ and producer Matteo Spedicati, Aris Duo, Tooker Live Band, DJ Macaco and Funko Franco, food by Mordi and Impasto and drinks by Lazaretto and CIP Market with natural wines by Bar Pipette. Saturday 23 July, scene dedicated to the La Nuova Sardegna collective composed of Sagribaz, Prasi and Lovered, with the participation of four DJs and the winner of the freestyle competition of 9 September. For the second year in a row, the inclusion of local stars loved by young people will be an opportunity to open the bill for artistic proposals capable of showcasing different aspects of urban and hip-hop culture, with a competition dedicated exclusively to exponents of the so-called four arts: hip-hop, MCing, DJing, writing, breakdance.
