TN exclusive: where is Maradona’s heart, a year after his death

Diego Maradona he was buried without his heart, which happened to be the most precious symbol of the star on Earth for fans. A report from TN exclusively revealed where he has been for a year: a laboratory of the Scientific Police of the Province of Buenos Aires.

During the transfer there was a strong security operation due to the fact that there was information that the gymnastics and fencing bar of La Plata, where Maradona was DT in his last connection with football, wanted to “kidnap” him, as sources confirmed to this media who participated in the operation.

Maradona’s heart was completely removed after his death, on November 25, 2020. Weighed twice as much as a normal one: 503 grams. It was completely revised, dissected and preserved whole in 10% formalin in the morgue.

Samples of the heart and other organs, as they were taken, were taken in the first instance to the Forensic Medical Corps, where they remained in locked refrigerators until their transfer.

Maradona’s remains they arrived at the morgue at 18:30. The stiffness had started to appear at 16. All the people who participated in the autopsy had to leave their cell phones outside: there was a fixed camera and a mobile camera that recorded the entire study.

Autopsy

It was a long, drawn-out autopsy. There the organs would be extracted: the heart was detached from the vessels.

The procedure determined that Maradona passed away due to heart failure and acute lung edema. His death it was not suddenIt was not a moment, but it was a process. He died slowly and the clots that were found in the heart chambers, in addition to the color of the blood, confirmed it.

Diego’s heart was the subject of analysis for more than 20 years. He was at the limit on different occasions in the last two decades of his life and many believe that after the Punta del Este episode, in the festivities and excesses of the new millennium, Maradona was born again.

Doctors speak of a patient on the brink of death and the “miracle” of his coming back to life. 20 years after the most critical episode of his life, his heart said enough: died of heart failure and acute lung edema. Despite her condition, she was not receiving specific medication for her heart.

Where is Maradona’s heart and why

Currently, his heart is preserved in a bottle in formaldehyde in the laboratory of Pathological Anatomy of the Superintendency of Scientific Police in La Plata. The reason is that it may be the subject of further analysis in the context of the investigation of his death.
