Israeli forces continue to search for the bodies of those killed in the October 7 attack, using birds of prey loaded with tracking devices in their difficult mission.

The Israeli military appears to have requested the assistance of the Nature and Parks Authority in locating the bodies by examining the flight patterns of falcons and vultures in the surrounding areas.

Tracking devices

In recent days at least four bodies have been discovered near the forests of Be’eri and Kissufim, thanks to tracking devices installed on falcons in the area, as reported by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.

The reason birds of prey are used is because Palestinian fighters opened fire on forces searching for the bodies.

Furthermore, the search process became difficult, due to the state the bodies were in more than a month after the sudden attack.

Bodies found

In one case, a hawk was identified that had come ashore after being outside Israel’s borders for 24 days, and upon inspection it was found that several bodies had been found nearby.

In turn, the Nature and Parks Authority initially believed the bird was dead, but it was discovered to be near bodies dating back to the October 7 attack.
