Tom Brady calls Canelo Alvarez a “true champion” who is “humble,” “hard-working” and “professional” ahead of this weekend’s fight with Jermall Charlo.

Brady said he’s looking forward to seeing the undisputed super middleweight champion put all of his belts on the line Saturday night.

The NFL legend said Canelo “never disappoints” when he steps into the ring and has “represented Mexico well” throughout his career.

He also spoke about how he and Canelo played golf together while in California and claimed he was surprised by the 33-year-old after discussing his training.

Brady said he was “surprised by Canelo’s discipline” when it came to his diet before and after golf tournaments.

Speaking ahead of Canelo’s fight this weekend, Brady said on the Let’s Go podcast: “You’re an impressive competitor, a true champion, humble, hard-working, do great things for the community, And represents Mexico well.

“Every time you step into the ring, you show professionalism. I think those professional guys love to see you fight because you’re trying to do your best, and real competitors do their best, and You are never disappointed. I love seeing you fight.

Canelo thanked Brady for the comment, replying: “Thank you for your words, I really appreciate it.

“I always try to do my best and that works for me because when you’re disciplined, you know the key to keeping winning and staying true to your team and always being disciplined with your family, in the gym and everything, I Think you’ll get good results.

The Mexican superstar concluded: “I really appreciate you watching me play because you are also a great athlete and it is an honor for me.”

Brady opened up about Canelo during their first meeting, claiming he was “surprised” by Canelo’s eating habits.

“We were playing golf together in California and I was amazed at your discipline, what you ate, what you drank, even the boxing workouts before and after the game,” the former NFL legend said the quarterback said.

“I remember asking you how much weight you needed to lose to get to this weight, and you told me you still needed to lose 15 pounds.

“But when I touch your back it feels like I’m touching granite, you have no fat on you and I’m asking where the weight you’re trying to lose is coming from!”
