The Cleveland Browns must analyze all their options after announcing starting quarterback Deshaun Watson will undergo season-ending surgery on his throwing shoulder.
Now-retired seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is an interesting choice.
On online betting platform BetOnline.ag, Brady is now the favorite among bettors to sign with the Browns during the 2023 regular season.
His odds top out at +300, which means a $100 bet will net $400, resulting in a $300 profit.
Robert Griffin III (+400), Matt Ryan (+600), Nick Foles (+600) and Trevor Siemian (+700) follow Brady in odds rankings second.
Other quarterbacks listed include Colin Kaepernick (+2000), Joe Flacco (+3300), Bryce Perkins, E.J. ·EJ Perry, Jake Luton and Chase Garbers.
Fans on X (formerly Twitter) weren’t buying it.
“Brady didn’t do this,” one person wrote.
A second said: “This list is absolutely insane.”
Another added: “It baffles me that Brady and RGIII have to jump through hoops to play.”
A fourth joked: “Anyone betting on this should get fast track to the top VIP bonus tier.”
In Watson’s absence, the Browns will turn to rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
Brady has yet to address the rumors, but considering he was spotted working with Fox analyst Erin Andrews in preparation for a role at the network next year, it’s likely he will move forward with retirement.
The New England Patriots legend signed a 10-year, $375 million contract to become Fox’s lead color commentator.
He will start in that role next season.
Unfortunately for Brady, his job on Fox was also believed to be an obstacle to an ownership deal with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Brady is trying to buy 10% of the Raiders for $175 million.
However, attempts to become a minority owner were blocked by the NFL’s ownership committee.
“We’re working hard on this,” Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay told The Boston Globe.
“For Tom, the number has to be a reasonable purchase price, that’s the only thing.
“If reasonable value says 10 percent should be $525 million, then you can’t pay $175 million.”
NFL owners will have a chance to vote on the issue in December.
