Details of Tom Brady’s humorous bet with Texans quarterback CJ Stroud

During an appearance on the Let’s Go Podcast with Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray, Brady made a tongue-in-cheek bet with the Houston Texans standout, who was on his way to becoming the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft. The overall pick previously starred at Ohio State.

“If Ohio State wins…you get one of my Super Bowl rings,” Brady told Stroud.

But what happens if Brady’s Wolverines beat Stroud’s Buckeyes?

“If Michigan beats Ohio State, then you have to give me all of your youth, your quickness, your time in the 40-yard dash and all of your future years in the NFL,” Brady said. “How about that?”

Stroud replied: “It’s a bet.”

It sounded like Brady was trying to make one last comeback — albeit in a joking tone.

What is their record against their opponents?A look back at Brady vs. Brady vs. Ohio State and Stroud vs. Michigan State

Do Brady and Stroud both have quality wins against their toughest college opponents?

Brady played four seasons at Ann Arbor, Michigan. But he didn’t officially become a starter until the 1998 season — after the Wolverines went undefeated in ’97.

Brady’s 1998 game against the Buckeyes was a fairly forgettable game by Michigan standards. On November 21, 1998, Ohio State defeated its opponent 31-16. On that day, Brady completed 31 of 56 passes for 375 yards and one touchdown. But he was voted out twice.

Do Brady and the Wolverines redeem themselves the following season? In fact, they did beat the Buckeyes 24-17 at the Big House in Ann Arbor. Brady then scored his final two touchdowns of the day, one in the third quarter to tie the score 17-17 and the last with 5:01 left.

How did Stroud fare against the Wolverines?

Unfortunately for Stroud, he was on the losing side in both races. Both are one-sided.

Although Stroud threw for 394 yards and two touchdowns, he saw Michigan beat him and the Buckeyes 42-27 on Nov. 27, 2021. In that game, OSU jumped out to an early 10-7 lead.

The next year in Columbus, Stroud passed for 349 yards and two more touchdowns. The Buckeyes also jumped out to an early 10-3 lead. But the Wolverines prevailed 45-23.

Now, Stroud is making waves across the NFL with his flashy play for the Texans, and it looks like he’s ready for an early Super Bowl ring. But only if Brady does hand one over to him after Nov. 25.
