Now that Tom Brady has become a part of the lives of NFL fans, he understands the frustration that might boil over for anyone sitting on the couch on a Sunday.
The retired NFL quarterback was discussing his new game-day perspective on this week’s “Let’s Go!” Watch With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray on SiriusXM, where he Said he “can understand why the average fan would be angry when watching TV”.
“When you watch (and) have this TV, there’s a lot more context and they show every replay. On the field, you don’t see that. You see everything on the ground,” Bray Dee said.
“I think when you’re a fan you obviously see a lot and hear a lot. The critics say a lot. The scores are there, the timeouts are listed, everything is there for you. When you’re a As a player, that’s not necessarily the case. “You just, live in the moment. “
Brady played 23 seasons in the NFL, including 20 with the Patriots and three with the Buccaneers, before announcing his retirement in February.
Brady will take this season off before starting a 10-year, $375 million job as a top game analyst at Fox.
“I’m taking it all in. I’m trying to actually listen to it from a broadcaster’s perspective and how they’re calling the game, you know, focusing more on the broadcast element of it, the pageantry of it rather than, I would say The nuances and technicalities of the game,” Brady said.
Brady, 46, has been enjoying family time since hanging up his boots, spending time with his three children.
The former quarterback, who shares daughter Benjamin, 13, and daughter Vivian, 10, with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, divorced in October 2022.
He also has 16-year-old son Jack with his ex-girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan.
“I don’t have the pressure of playing, so it allows me to focus more on my physical health,” Brady said on his podcast in September, in which he shared that he had lost 10 pounds.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion added: “There are so many other things you can prioritize — career, kids, relationships, family, the greater good, community.”
Elsewhere on this week’s show, Brady elaborated on some of his observations from Sunday, including Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers throwing the football a month after Achilles surgery.
“He’s determined to come back and I really like Aaron. I think some people use injuries as an excuse not to play,” Brady said. “The most inspiring thing to me when I see a guy like that is he shows you his love for the game.”
Rodgers, 39, was just four games into his Jets career when he suffered an Achilles injury in September.
After undergoing surgery, the four-time league MVP said he hopes to return this year.
“I know it’s a tough battle. It’s an unbelievable injury and he’s trying to come back from it. I appreciate his effort,” Brady said. “That’s the approach that winners take, they try to get back out there and fight with their mates.”
The Jets enter the bye week with a 3-3 record after a thrilling 20-14 victory over the Eagles on Sunday.
