This weekend’s Reform League charity auction in Atlantic City sets the stage for the week’s most exciting football hero and female celebrity pairings — that is, if you don’t count Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s words.
Tom Brady and Kim Kardashian both interested in George Condo’s work standing female figure (2023) and let the room know by engaging in a friendly but fierce bidding war for the piece.
Organizers tell Kardashian the opening bid is $500,000 Artsnet News. Brady quickly retorted, and the two kept bidding until Brady offered $2 million for the piece, at which point the reality star realized he had been outbid.
When Condor heard that two celebrities were looking for this mixed-media painting featuring a woman’s nude buttocks, he agreed to create a matching piece for Kardashian if she would pay the same amount as Brady, That’s $2 million.
That may seem like a huge sum, but Condo’s auction record is more than three times that amount.
Works by Rasheed Johnson, firefly (2023) also entered the auction block and was sold by NFT advocate and entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk for $1.5 million.
The Alliance for Reform, which advocates for reform of the criminal justice system, donated $5.1 million through the three productions. A total of $24 million was raised that night.
