Tom Brady won’t play for Jets after retiring

FOXBORO — Have no fear, Patriots fans. Tom Brady is not retiring and joining the Jets this season.

Regardless, the chance of that happening is 0.0001%, but now those wild dreams of Jets fans and the New York media can officially be dashed. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported Wednesday morning that the Jets will not contact Brady about a possible return to football and that Brady has made it clear he is done with football .

So for everyone hoping that the 46-year-old Brady will take over for the injured Aaron Rodgers, who is out for the season with a torn Achilles just four times in his Jets career, yes. It’s time to move on.

Brady does seem happy to retire, and it would be embarrassing if he came back to join New England’s AFC East rivals after declaring himself a “lifelong patriot” during Sunday’s ceremony at Gillette Stadium.

The Jets may add a veteran quarterback at some point in the near future, but this will once again be Zach Wilson’s team in 2023.
