Tom Brady’s role in Raiders coaching search revealed

When Mark Davis begins his search for the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, he’s expected to involve Tom Brady in the search.

When Mark Davis begins another coaching search for the Las Vegas Raiders, expect to be consulted during the search who know a thing or two about winning in the NFL. Who: Tom Brady.

It’s no secret that Davis is a longtime admirer of Brady, so league sources believe Brady will be in the room as the team searches for Josh McDaniels’ permanent successor, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reports The sound inside.

Davis was so eager to get Brady on board that he tried to sell TB12 an ownership stake in the Raiders at a deep discount. Due to the discounted price, the sale has not been approved by the NFL Finance Committee.

McDaniels was fired earlier this week along with general manager Dave Ziegler. The pair were hired on a package deal and their roles lasted just 26 games. Led by McDaniels and Ziegler, the Raiders posted a 9-16 record.

Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce

Linebackers coach Antonio Pierce was named interim head coach. The Raiders defeated the New York Giants 30-6 in their first game at home.

If Pierce is not retained, Davis is expected to look to hire a player-focused head coach. Davis decided to part ways with McDaniels early in his tenure, in part due to “low morale.”

Davis made that message clear during one-on-one meetings with several of the Raiders’ star players.

A larger team meeting initiated by McDaniels made it clear that changes needed to be made, even if it meant Davis spending a fortune to fire McDaniels and Ziegler.
