But in reality, the on-screen rivals are actually close and share a brotherly bond. Even Felton (who portrayed Draco) said that Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy represent different sides of the same coin.
This is because Harry represents the easy qualities of love and compassion, while Draco represents the struggle to express these qualities due to his upbringing. This reveals the moral duality of the heroes.

Tom Felton said that Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy are two sides of the same coin
In an interview with CBS Mornings, Tom Felton spoke about his great friendship with Daniel Radcliffe, his ex Harry Potter colleague. When asked “You say that Draco and Harry are two sides of the same coin.” Felton said of Radcliffe’s character Harry:
“Can be. I mean we talked. And essentially, you have, you know, a boy who has no parents, no money, no status, but he has everything that is good in the world. He has love, compassion, friends, truth and honesty.”
He then described his character, Draco Malfoy:
“And the other side is a little darker, (with) very powerful parents, a lot of money, a big house, all the toys, but also a bully and someone who can’t find a way to express his light because he hasn’t been shown his whole life . These are general views, but I think it’s pretty true.”
In the above statements, Felton highlighted some similarities between Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy. Despite the opposite circumstances, they represent different facets of human nature.

Tom Felton says Daniel Radcliffe is like a ‘brother’ to him
Despite the ongoing rivalry between Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy, Tom Felton considered Radcliffe a “brother”. Felton praised Radcliffe for directing the cast with enthusiasm and professionalism and said: “He was always willing to bring as much as he could to the table.”
“I love this man very much” Felton said while promoting his newly released memoir. Beyond the stick. “I don’t see him as often as I would like – it’s really the same for all of us. But I consider him a brother, definitely. Huge respect for him.”
The actor said that Radcliffe “brings a certain energy to any room he is in.”
