Bad news for Tom Holland fans: the actor has refused to participate in the upcoming project starring Spider-Man.

The new voice of Spider-Man
Spider-Man is one of Marvel’s iconic products. It has received several versions over the years, from comic books to the first comic book movie trilogy, various animated series, and appearances in several spin-off productions. And now, years after his first appearance, he’s set to return to his roots with a new animated series.
Spider-Man’s Freshman Year will take place during Peter Parker’s first year of high school.early in his Spider-Man career. The series will be inspired by the Silver Age Spider-Man comics and will also see the return of other superheroes such as Doctor Strange and Daredevil.
Production has confirmed that while Spider-Man: Freshman Year follows Peter Parker through high school shortly after he gains his superpowers, the animated series is not a canonical prequel about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man journey in the MCU. Spider-Man: Freshman Year introduces new versions of characters such as Norman Osborn, Doctor Octopus, Scorpion and Doctor Strange, making the series inconsistent with the main MCU continuity.
It’s for this reason that it looks like Holland won’t be voicing the new Spider-Man character. Tom Holland’s place as Peter Parker in the spin-off will be taken by a new actor, and it will be someone who has already dealt with the character. The production of Spider-Man: Freshman Year appears to have been chosen Hudson Thames, a voice actor who previously voiced Spider-Man in the fifth episode of What If…?.
While this casting may not please Holland’s biggest fans, there’s no need to worry: Hudson Thames’ casting as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Freshman Year isn’t stopping Tom Holland from reprising his Marvel role (which in fact, almost certainly, given that Spider-Man sequels have already been announced).
