Tonight on TV: Movies of the Day August 21

The holidays are over and you’re back in the office (or going back)? The mood will not be the best, and for this reason we want to advise you to sit in front of the TV and watch a movie tonight. And what could be better than iconic evergreens like Mel Brooks’ Frankenstein Jr. with Gene Wilder and Gene Hackman or Robert Zemeckis’s Romancing the Stone with Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas?

There is also a TV premiere: this time it’s the turn of Emanuele Crialese’s “Infinity” with the extraordinary Penelope Cruz.

Titles not to be missed

In pursuit of the green stone – Retequattro, 21:25.

Director: Robert Zemeckis

Cast: Kathleen Turner, Michael Douglas, Danny DeVito, Zack Norman, Alphonso Arau

Year: 1984

Description: Joan Wilder is a shy writer of sentimental novels. One day, she is warned that her sister, who went to Colombia in search of a precious green stone (at the behest of her late husband, who sent her a map), has been kidnapped. The girl leaves to save her, and upon arriving in Cartagena, she is pursued not only by two misguided kidnappers, but also by a dangerous drug dealer who has sensed the existence of the map. Luckily, Jack Colton, a lovable adventurer similar to the characters Wilder created in her novels, intervenes and stays by her side in this adventure.

Frankenstein Jr. – 9, 21.25

Directed by: Mel Brooks

Cast: Gene Wilder, Gene Hackman, Madeleine Kahn, Peter Boyle, Marty Feldman, Cloris Leachman

Plot: Victor von Frankenstein bequeaths everything he owns to his nephew Frederick. The latter does not know whether to agree, and therefore, when in doubt, decides to go to his uncle’s castle, where he finds the old grandfather’s experiment. Out of curiosity, try to check its veracity and create a strange monster of infinite kindness.

Sinopsys: We are in Rome, in the 70’s Clara and Felice have just moved into a new apartment, although their marriage has already ended. In reality, the two don’t love each other anymore, but are struggling to break up. They are connected by children, on whom Clara pours out all her desire for a different, freer life. The eldest daughter, Adriana, is twelve years old, and she understands most of all what is happening between her parents, as well as her mother’s state of mind. At the same time, the girl is going through a difficult personal period: she refuses her name, her personality, she wants to convince everyone that she is a boy, and this stubbornness of her brings the already fragile family balance to the limit.
