We are on the eve of August 15 and these days the usual frenzy has left us at a much slower pace and relaxed. The cities were empty, and even the TV programs were a little empty, leaving room for repeats. But tonight we can still find a few films on free-to-air and satellite channels, and there’s even First Vision or M3GAN, a thriller that makes us think about the much-discussed artificial intelligence. We remain in dystopian costume with The Lobster, a gem signed by director Yorgos Lanthimos (who will be participating in Venice 80 with his new film Poor Things), starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz.
Then let’s dive into Italian auteur cinema with Lina Wertmüller’s Overwhelmed by Unusual Destiny in the Blue Sea of August with Giancarlo Giannini and Mariangela Melato.
