“Transitions”, a new film by Ira Sachs in cinemas in Italy from 17 August.

All the nuances of a pathological narcissist

ROME – MUBI and LuckyRed they announced that Transitionsdirector’s new film Ira Saks – presented at the world premiere in Sundance Film Festival and Berlin Film Festival – will arrive in Italian theaters August 17.

The passionate relationship of young director Thomas (Franz Rogowski) with teacher Agatha, played by Adele Exarchopoulos, winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes for a great film. Adel’s life is completely new to him.

Her marriage to illustrator Martin (Ben Whishaw) quickly falls apart, and just as quickly Thomas leaves her husband and moves in with Agatha.

Modern Paris, in which the three characters move, frames the hectic lifestyle of Thomas, who cannot make up his mind or find a place to stop and enjoy his happiness.

In Fragments, Ira Sachs honestly describes the narcissistic protagonist, who, in order to satisfy his desire, causes suffering to people who love him.

Thomas tramples on the feelings of other people, completely oblivious to the consequences, but pays dearly for his selfishness.

The photography in Transitions is exquisite, and the direction makes the story very believable, aided by the superb performances of the actors, as multifaceted as the characters they play. All in all, a multi-layered film, which is a rarity in the sometimes somewhat monotonous cinematic landscape.
