Another day, another manicure trend to keep an eye on. This time it’s the turn tuxedo nailsor the tuxedo-effect nails that renowned nail artist Tom Bachik featured on his Instagram feed.
Before you start imagining a tiny bow tie and buttons painted in the center of the nails (which actually pops up when searching for a trend on Google), Tom’s look is inspired by the black and white color palette of a white shirt and a tailored blazer. But the design is translated much more gracefully.
On July 26, she shared a flashback of a manicure inspired by one of her celebrity clients, J. Lo. The split photo shows Jennifer in a black and white swimsuit. Another image showed an additional monochrome nail created by Tom. She remixed the classic jacket, swapping out the nude pink base for a black one and fluffing out the white tip for a more dramatic effect.

While the manicure looks great with Jen’s black and white bathing suit, it’s also perfect for the evening tuxedo look that J.Lo usually flaunts.
It goes well with any solid color outfit, be it black tailored trousers and a white T-shirt or a black midi dress. Plus, since the colors create a neutral manicure, they don’t clash with even bolder, more vibrant outfits.
A clear fan of black and white tuxedo nails, Tom also posted another version of a manicure he created for another celebrity, Camila Cabello, with the caption “French Tuxedo 🤍🖤”. In this case, Tom split the nail in half down the middle and created a traditional French tip on one half and matte black on the other half.
