A shooting in a luxurious hotel Cancun It caused a commotion among the tourists present who had to run from the beach area and hide in their rooms. It all started when a group of armed men arrived at Bahía Petempich beach, about 30 kilometers south of Cancun, in Puerto Morelos, near the Hyatt Riviera hotel, and began shooting. The Quintana Roo state prosecutor’s office later indicated through its official Twitter account that the confrontation was between opposing criminal gangs. For his part, Lucio Hernández, Secretary of State Security, indicated that the two deceased were “men who are presumed to be drug dealers” and added that “There are no seriously injured or kidnapped tourists.”

“Some armed men came shooting,” tweeted Mike Sington, executive of the US network NBC Universal, who was at the scene. ”They all ran from the beach and the pools. The (hotel) staff told us to hide in the rooms behind the kitchens, ”he wrote as the events unfolded. Sington also posted images of tourists, many in bathing suits, sheltering in the hallways of the Hyatt Riviera.

Forensic service personnel, as well as members of the National Guard, arrived at the facilities, while a helicopter from the Secretary of the Navy flew over the area, AFP reported. On the other hand, no further details were provided on whether there were minor injuries.
