Dana White and Vince McMahon were once bitter rivals and are now as close as lifelong friends, thanks in large part to the merger of the UFC and WWE. The TKO Holdings merger was officially completed a few weeks ago, and Vince was dubbed “the Michael Jordan of business” in a recent interview with Si.com.
This is strong praise considering White also said in the same interview that Vince treated him badly for no reason. The exact quote doesn’t mince words.
“He tried to fuck me multiple times, for no reason, just to fuck me. But that’s in the past. Now Vince and I are allies, and there’s no one better to work with than Vince,” White said.
In the months since the UFC and WWE merged to form TKO, the two have worked closely together and the dynamic has changed significantly. Those acrimonious days are now a thing of the past, White said.
“From the first day of the deal, it was like I was dealing with a different person. It showed that when you go against him, or he thinks you go against him, he will blindly follow you. Once you have reached an agreement, Wen Si is an incredible partner.”
White mentioned that he has always had a good relationship with WWE’s Stephanie McMahon and her husband Paul Levesque (Triple H), even though his relationship with Vince was always on the rocks.
“Triple H and Stephanie have always been great working together. I’ve always had a great relationship with them, even though we weren’t on the same page at the time. But the most amazing story is the relationship with Vince McMahon.
He continued: “Vince McMahon, man, he’s an absolute savage. Even with some of the stuff we’ve been through in the past, I respect it. I love killers. He’s definitely a killer. “He’s the Michael of the business. Jordan. “
Dana’s official title has changed since the two sports-entertainment superpowers joined the ranks — though little else has changed. White served as UFC president and now serves as UFC CEO, but his responsibilities to the company remain the same.
“I don’t give a shit about that kind of thing. Even the CEO thing, it’s a lateral move for me. I’m responsible for everything that happens here. Everything that happens here, I decide. So nothing changes, Just three letters…I’m now the CEO or president of the UFC. But nothing has changed. “We’re going to keep working like we did every year. “
The TKO merger is valued at just over $21B, and White can’t help but gloat that it will make them dominant in the industry:
“I’m always (excited) no matter what, but after this merger we are stronger than we were yesterday.”
Currently, WWE is looking for a new broadcast partner, so White said he’s just eager to watch Vince work. One might think that with his own job already filled with UFC business, boxing, and trying to keep up his PPVs, there wouldn’t be much room for anything else. But Dana White is no ordinary guy, so we can expect him to have his sights on a ton of other projects as usual.
