The young artist from General Pico Sabrina Casale Margutti was a finalist, along with 17 other artists from all over Patagonia, in the IUPA CANTA singing competition, organized by our university of arts.

Sabrina will sing in front of a jury of artists, accompanied by a musical ensemble from IUPA, on December 4 and 11, and will compete with other artists from Chubut, RN, Neuquén and Tierra del Fuego.

The final instance of IUPA Canta 2021, this contest where the voice of all of Patagonia is the protagonist, this year will become a great show where the musical will be accompanied by the magic of TV in the format of a talent show. On this occasion, Channel 10 joins as a co-producer for the broadcast.

Thus, the 18 finalists in this contest organized by the Music Department will sing live, accompanied by different ensembles of Popular Music students from the university. This great musical show will be shared in two days, on Saturdays, December 4 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. on provincial public television and on streaming on the Youtube channel IUPA en Casa.

Participants will have to perform songs of their own authorship before a jury of notable artists: the pianist and composer Ana Robles; the singer and songwriter Sofía Trucco, from the band Féminas; singer-songwriter and popular music performer Laura Gallo; and the teacher and saxophonist Alan Tetchiev.

Last year’s winner, the singer from Bariloche Dai Urban, will be part of the television staff, accompanying the musicians during the broadcast.

The jury will then determine who will be the winners. The three best works without distinction of musical category in terms of genre or style, will receive these prizes: first place, $ 50,000 and the production of a video clip; the second, $ 40,000 and the third, $ 30,000.

In its second edition, IUPA Canta received the application of 112 participants from all over Patagonia, and after a preselection, 22 were chosen, with representation from all the Patagonian provinces. For the final, 18 will perform.

IUPA Canta emphasizes the voice and also highlights the musical composition, since it was a requirement of registration that the works presented were unpublished. The contest is directed by Nelson Vargas and the general production by Ignacio Camba. A large team of areas and departments works on the project, including teachers, students, technicians, professionals, etc.
