The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) reported widespread transmission of the covid-19 virus at the community level in most parts of the country, but no increase in hospitalizations, and called on the community to maintain general hygiene measures until the next opening of its schools, such as in Use a mask when living with others in a closed place for more than 30 minutes.
The University Research Program at the Institute for Epidemiology and Emerging Risks explained in a statement that the behavior of the virus has changed in recent weeks.
While the number of cases and diagnostic test positivity rates have increased, indicators such as hospitalizations, deaths and virus mutations have remained the same, he explained.

but recommends that, due to the time of year and the start of activities, general measures to prevent infection and complications of covid-19, as well as other respiratory illnesses such as influenza, RSV, and pneumonia, continue and be considered most in the community disadvantaged groups.
He asked people with acute respiratory illness symptoms such as flu, cold, cough, sore throat and fever to self-isolate as much as possible and rest for three to five days before recovering. Likewise, he recommends always using a mask when around other people if symptoms of acute respiratory illness develop.
He advised patients to self-quarantine if one or more co-occurring cases were identified in the same work area or academic activity; actively promote ventilation; encourage use of masks by those working in enclosed spaces, in case of symptoms or test positive , inform the entity or unit’s health officials, and ensure adequate personal hygiene, furniture, and facilities at all times.
