The sides are flanked by lush greenery, deliberately left uncultivated and wild, as if nature had truly reclaimed its expanse despite human intervention. From here you can get to Meat processing area, a charming industrial area where the slaughterhouses of the early 1900s have given way to restaurants and boutiques. You can get there in about an hour by subway from Manhattan. Coney Island, since 1903 its name has become synonymous with the amusement park. Numerous attractions, from the most adventurous to the accessible to everyone, are located directly opposite the huge beach and promenade where you can stop for a break. Katz Delicatessen Where the famous scene from When Harry Met Sally was filmed, the sign lists the table where Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal sat, and has been a mecca for all pastrami sandwich lovers since 1888.
Following in the footsteps of the stars
In Tribeca you can’t miss the stop at Ghostbusters Fire Station, for all you fans of the 1984 movie. The building is called Hook and Ladder 8 and it still houses an active fire station. Chelsea historian Chelsea Hotel founded in 1884 and is known for hosting a variety of personalities including Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Patti Smith, Sid Vicious, Robert Mapplethorpe. Although the hotel no longer accepts stays of more than 24 nights, it remains a meeting place for many artists. In the shadow Queensboro Bridge you’ll feel like you’re in a Manhattan poster sitting on the bench where Woody Allen and Diane Keaton used to chat. Finally, the Upper West Side is a symbolic place for all John Lennon fans. After 43 years of bench Strawberry Fields Memorial is still crowded with people who gather to remember him and listen to musicians play the songs of the Fab Four. Here you can also admire Dakota Building, the building in which Lennon lived and where, just steps away, he was killed.
