Lucknow records 28 new dengue cases, first dengue death this season
Lucknow recorded 28 new dengue cases on Sunday, taking the number to nearly 800 since January. A private medical facility on Kanpur Road reported its first dengue death this year on Friday. The health department confirmed dengue as the cause of death after an audit on Sunday. Institute records show that the patient, a 30-year-old resident of Sarojini Nagar district, suffered from high fever and retro-orbital pain for five consecutive days. Yogesh Raghuvanshi, spokesperson of the Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Lucknow, said, “The patient suffered from hepatitis B, chronic liver disease, typhoid with sepsis and had been admitted to the institute before coming to the institute. Treatment was given in two private hospitals. I died from Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS). In DSS, health officials said, the body experiences severe leakage of plasma, severe bleeding and organ damage, manifested by elevated liver enzymes. In In this case, it impaired sensation and led to his death. After the death, Chief Medical Officer Dr Manoj Agrawal directed the District Malaria Officer (DMO) and other medical officials to take intensive measures such as fogging and spraying of insecticides, to check mosquito menace in Sarojinigar area.
